Irdeto Canada is searching for an experienced Embedded Software Integration Developer to drive early market and technology exploration and early stage customer integration activities across Irdeto’s Connected Transport business.


Connectivity is driving a transformational change in human mobility, creating new possibilities and opportunities in connecting people, goods, cities, and innovation. It also creates an urgent need for cybersecurity in the transportation segment.


This role spans the entire product area of Irdeto's Connected Transport strategy of "Enabling people to embrace connected mobility without fear."

Embedded Software Integration Developer


This position requires an individual extremely adept at small embedded systems, loading software and firmware configurations, as well as debugging/tracing functionality through various wired and wireless interfaces. Experience with Bluetooth, cellular interfaces, embedded C, and cryptography are essential.


The ideal candidate is extremely proactive, is comfortable juggling multiple projects, and has an overtly strong disposition to solve problems in creative ways in short timeframes. The candidate must be comfortable engaging directly with customer engineers and have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.


Required Skills:

  • 5 or more years of embedded systems development experience
  • Development in C (but won’t flinch at the first sign of assembly language), >10k SLOC project
  • Ability to think cross-platform & cross-compiler experience (Linux, OSX, QNX, and Android)
  • Python, Perl, Make, or Shell scripting experience
  • Work well independently and in a team environment

Useful Skills:

  • C++ experience
  • Bluetooth 3, 4, 5, BLE; GSM; GPRS; and LTE experience
  • Familiarity with debuggers and disassemblers: e.g. IDA Pro, OllyDbg, gdb, SoftICE, WinDBG
  • Understand the concepts of symmetric/asymmetric encryption/decryption, signing/verification
  • Hardware component use and connectivity e.g. USB, UART, RS232
  • Exposure to software protection tools and concepts
  • Mobile development experience: Android (ADK, NDK, Android Studio, AOSP), iOS (Xcode)
  • Familiar with VM environments: VMWare, VirtualBox, Parallels
  • Experience with containerization: Docker
  • Understands that a BIO-break is just another IOFunction, and that a call from a spouse (or parent) can be considered as a non-maskable priority interrupt
